It takes about 60 seconds. You've driven past schools in East Columbus that promise everything and deliver test prep. You've watched your child come home from buildings where art class got cut, where the music teacher was a volunteer, where "technology" meant a Chromebook on a cart. CATA has been doing this for two decades. The art isn't decoration. The technology isn't a label. They're the spine of the education, and the state report card proves the academics are working.

What your child's school day looks like

School runs from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Your child starts the day with a free breakfast. The academic program is college-prep, standards-based, and built to close gaps for students who arrive behind while pushing students who arrive on grade level further. Social-emotional learning runs through the PBIS framework. In-school tutoring is available. Summer school runs four weeks in June for grades 3 through 12. Saturday School runs twice a year for targeted academic support.

Career pathways that start in high school

Digital content creation and media arts. Career tech. Gaming. Financial literacy and leadership. Journalism. Music. These are career-based intervention programs, structured so a student's interest in making content or building games connects to a real pathway after graduation. Your child doesn't just learn about careers. He or she practices one.

Athletics, esports, and clubs

Basketball. Cheer. Dance. Esports. Soccer. Track and field. Practices run twice a week, games are on Saturdays through the Charter School League, and the school handles transportation. Clubs include chess, dance, esports and gaming, student council, and yearbook. There is something to belong to here, regardless of whether your child is an athlete.

A community that shows up

NYAP provides counseling services. A family liaison supports families navigating school and home life. The PTO runs "Voice of the Parents," giving families a structured way to influence the school. A monthly fitness program runs for families with a dedicated coach. Students receive library cards through community partnerships. Bob Clubhouse, Big Mommas Day, and Start to Finish are active partners in the building.

Before school. After school. All covered.

Before- and after-care runs from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. through a partnership with Oasis. The cost is $40 per month per child and covers both services. For a working family in East Columbus, that schedule means your child is supervised, fed, and engaged from before sunrise to dinnertime.

Everything else? Free.

  • No tuition.
  • No application fee.
  • Free breakfast and lunch every school day.
  • Transportation through Columbus City Schools.
  • Uniform assistance available.
  • Kindergarten through 12th grade under one roof.
Columbus Arts and Technology Academy is publicly funded. Your tax dollars already cover it. Your child is in school right now. If the building he or she sits in for seven hours a day doesn't connect what's taught to what matters, doesn't offer a creative outlet that makes the hard academic work feel worth doing, and doesn't have 20 years of results to prove it works, then you're trading time for hope. CATA trades time for evidence.

You've read the results. You've seen the programs. Here's where you find out if this is the right fit for your child.
