Intervention Specialist (K-4)

Hello everyone, my name is Ms. Washington. I’m an Intervention Specialist here at CATA. I have 5 children; 1 boy (19), and 4 girls (14, 12, 7, and 1). I was born and raised in Columbus, Ohio with my mother, father, and four other siblings, me being the middle child.  After I completed high school, I joined the military, and served for 6 years. I was a soldier in the Enduring Iraqi Freedom War and I was stationed in Iraq for 1 ½ years. When I came home, I decided to pursue my true passion which was teaching. I always loved education, even as a child I would teach my little brother and my dolls various things. I love helping students learn through encouragement, motivation, and guidance. I obtained my Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology, and continued on to earn my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education. I worked in early childhood for a few years, which I absolutely loved, and then I joined the CATA family. Working at CATA has been a great experience, I have the opportunity to work with students, not only on curriculum, but on self-building skills that will help them be successful. The staff is great and the CATA families are amazing. What I truly admire about the families is their passion for their children to succeed and their dedication to being involved to ensure this happens. My intention for this year is to stay dedicated to teaching, learning, and motivating! I firmly believe that these students can achieve and move on to greater things. My mission is to help them succeed.
