LPN, Clinical Nurse

I am Ritha Sawyer, LPN, the 2020-21 Clinic Nurse. I have an extensive medical background. After working as an Emergency Room and Laser Center Coding Specialist for Grant Medical Center, a Surgical Technician in Labor & Delivery at Mount Carmel East Hospital and Riverside Methodist Hospital, a main operating room Surgical Technician at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, a drug and alcohol rehabilitation nurse at The Woods at Parkside, and a Charge Nurse for a deaf and blind facility, I became a Clinic Nurse at CATA. I have been at CATA for 11 years. In my spare time for over 24 years, I have run and owned ‘The House of Sawyer Company’ (custom screen printing and embroidery business). I am also a seamstress, and have been sewing over 43 years. I am currently the Treasurer of the Trinity Theatre Association (a local youth art, dance, and theatre organization) for the 2020-21 season. I have been married 29 years to my husband, Brian. Together we have 5 children (Brittany, Brian Jr, Ryan, Jamar, Briana), 6 grandchildren (Jaiden, Jaliyah, Peyton, Braylon, Mason, Malik), 3 dogs (Duke, Duchess, Bleu), and 2 grand-pups (Gigi, Cesar). I respect, value, appreciate, and admire the CATA family, because we truly are a family.  We all have each other’s back, and genuinely care about one another, like a true family. Before I came to CATA, I had prayed for a job that made me WANT to come to work each day…. Then by God’s Grace…I ‘stumbled’ on the ad in a local newspaper to come work for CATA.  I love it here.  I am comfortable, and feel appreciated on a daily basis. I am here to collaborate with the students and their families, and connect with the health resources in the community. I plan on providing for the safety of the CATA students, by educating both students and staff, while providing routine first aid and emergency care when necessary. TEAM CATA!!!!!!!!!
