Fifth Grade Teacher

My name is Haven Labaki and I am a first-year fifth grade teacher at Columbus Arts & Technology Academy. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, but when a wonderful teacher helped me find a love for writing, I decided to pursue my degree in Education. Writing helped me find an escape from the bullying that I experienced in school and continues to be a passion in my life. My goal is to be not only an educator to my students, but also a mentor and a confidant. If I can nurture my students in the way that I was nurtured, I hope to be a source of positivity in their lives, both in fifth grade and beyond. My goal is to help my students find a love of reading and writing that they can carry with them. At CATA I instantly felt welcomed by the staff. This is something that I’ve always wanted in a career: belonging. I hope to bring passion, love, and understanding to my students. Not only do I want to change the lives of my students, it is my hope that they will also change mine. I am excited to begin my career at CATA and learn as much as I teach.
